Kiley at three months

Our little girl is growing up fast. Sometimes we feel like time is flying by, and other times we think that she can’t grow up fast enough. With the acid reflux continuing to bother her and when she doesn’t sleep through the night, we wanter to her to get older soon. However, when she rolled over from her back to her belly the other day, we realized she is growing up and we want to hold on to all those precious moments.

Kiley is doing a lot of “talking” during the day. She loves laying on her back and playing in her play-gym. She can see and interact with the toys that dangle down in front of her, and we can tell she enjoys them. She will coo and talk to both us and the toys, sometimes for a half hour. Kiley still has her moments of screaming and being upset, but those times are getting fewer and fewer. That is a major joy for us, and it is extra special for her to be carried down stairs from a nap and see Laura or me and smile with a big, shy grin.

All four of us (Me, Laura, Gus, and Kiley) visited Texas for a week, and even though Kiley was better than the last visit, she still had her major melt downs. Gus wasn’t too stellar either, wanting out at 5:30 am several times. I think that both our kids were a bit out of sorts being away from home, and it’s amazing that a three month old can tell she is out of her routine. However, she was glad to see Uncle Scott, Aunt Katie, Poppi and Mimi.

Kiley is normal for her height, but small for her weight, so the next doctor visit will give us a better clue as to whether she needs to eat more, or stay on the progression she is on. She won’t be a huge girl, just look at us; we just want her to be healthy and on track.

My favorite moments with her right now are seeing her smile at me. She gives me this big smile and then hides her face like she is shy or embarrassed. I also love it when she is happy on our walks with the dog. Laura’s favorite moments with her are when she is sitting on Laura’s lap, cooing and talking back to her. She also really likes the morning cuddling and smiles (she really is a morning baby). As far as our least favorite moments, we both agree that it is the screaming at two, three, four, and six am because she’s: wet? hungry? cranky? upset? mad about the latest tax bill? Who knows, but the lack of sleep is grinding on us and we are ready for that morning we wake up at six or seven and say, “Wow! I woke up with the sun!”

The swing and play-gym were the two best things we received from the shower as gifts because Kiley loves those two things and she will spend several happy hours with them each day. The weather is starting to turn cooler, and because she is still so small, we will have to go out and get some long-sleeve outfits to keep her warm at night and on our walks. Fall is upon us which means the Circleville Pumpkin Show is just around the corner. Hopefully, Kiley will get to go for the first time this year. I just hope she grows up to love autumn as much as we do!
