Yesterday, Laura and I planted some more bushes around the house. We’ve been meaning to for several seasons, but we could never really decide what we wanted to plant, and then it would be out of season or nothing would be on sale. We finally decided that we would go with Hostas, KnockOut roses, Mediterranean pink heather, and some variegated versions of our boxwood bushes.
After getting some water in our basement, it was necessary to build up a slope to the house with dirt. To make that look nice, we covered it with mulch and planned on planting some bushes. It looked lonely out there for a long time, like an empty canvas waiting for something to happen. Well, this week it happened.
It’s going to take a while for the plants to catch up to the ones already in the front of the house, but at least it’s a start. A big windstorm last night blew leaves all over the mulch, so it looks a little rough. In the future, we plan on planting a little ground cover of some kind in front of the bushes by the air conditioner to help fill things in. We’ll post some pictures of the progress as time goes by. For now, here is what we’ve done so far. Enjoy!
Toby, it looks very, very nice. You will love the hosta, they come back each year, multiply, and have lovely blooms. The knock out roses are very hardy and bloom like crazy. Great choices and they all look so pretty. Save me some of your iris bulbs because I have lost most of mine in the moves. Yours are beautiful! Nice work you two. Love you, Mom
